The Naukri Job Speak index for Chennai in June 2015 was at 1,523 up by 5%. Chennai considered to be a major autohub in the country, continues to witness a 16% decline in hiring activities.
Among the key sectors in the city, accounting / finance, banking, insurance, IT-software and hardware and telecom have recorded increase in June 2015 index whereas sectors like oil and gas, auto and real estate witnessed a y-o-y decline in hiring activity in the June 2015 index over June 2014.
BFSI industry reported a y-o-y growth of 49% in the June 2015 index.
The IT-software and hardware industries witnessed a y-o-y growth in hiring activity to the tune of 23% and 19% respectively in the June 2015 over June 2014. Insurance sector has witnessed an 11% increase in June 2015 index, after recording downward movements in past 3 months.

Followed by IT-software, demand for professionals in Accounts / Finance and Banking / Insurance also recorded a Y-o-Y growth of 22% and 18% in June 2015 index. Ddemand for professionals in Marketing and Pharma also witnessed a Y-o-Y growth to the tunes of 10% and 5% respectively in June’15 over June 2014.
The demand for professionals in IT-Software increased by 26% whereas professionals in IT-Hardware witnessed a stable trend in June 2015 index. ITES and packaging professionals saw a decline of 4% and 10% respectively in June 2015 over June 2014.
