NEC plans to expand LCD biz

| NEC Corporation, a Japanese company that specialises in visual display technology, has tied up with the Hong Kong-based display solutions provider TPV Technology, to tap the growing liquid crystal display desktop monitor market in India. |
| NEC Display Solutions (NECDS) president Yoshiaki Tsuada said the company expects a revenue of $50 million in 2009 from India by selling 500,000 display monitors and projectors. |
| The company plans to market its 15'', 17'', 19'' and 19'' wide display monitors and the target consumers are corporate enterprises and government agencies. |
| "As the displays manufactured by the NEC are made out of flame-retardant plastic materials they will reduce the cost of maintenance and the risk of downtime," Tsuada said. |
| Pointing to the size of the liquid crystal display market in India, TPV India Director Mukesh Gupta said the sales for liquid crystal display displays will touch 5.2 million units in 2008-09 from 4.5 million units in 2007-08. |
