Philips Medical Sews Up Agilent Unit Acquisition

Philips Medical Systems India (PMS India), a subsidiary of Philips Medical Systems International BV (which is fully owned by Royal Philips Electronics), has acquired the healthcare solutions group (HSG) of Agilent Technologies India for an undisclosed sum.
This follows the international acquisition of HSG of Agilent Technologies by Royal Philips Electronics.
The acquisition of HSG strengthens PMS India in cardiology, patient monitoring, critical care and home care.

This adds to its strength in diagnostic imaging radiology, both in X-rays, MRI and ultrasound, nuclear medicine and positron emission technology.
Arun Bruin, managing director, PMS India said: "The acquisition of the HSG from Agilent Technologies has widened the healthcare solutions that our company can provide."
K Ramachandran, chief executive officer, Philips (India), said: "Healthcare has emerged as a critical need in India. This acquisition positions Philips as a strong player in the entire spectrum of healthcare technology."
