Planet M, one of largest entertainment and lifestyle chains in the country, is all set to 'refresh' its brand image with a series of participatory events spread over a period of 45 days across India.

The events, which will kick start from September 12, will include 'funn' activities such as 'Treasure Hunt', 'Snap-n-Share', 'SingTone', 'Karaoke' and a gaming championship, Planet M CEO Subir Ghosh said.

"These events will bring the positioning of Planet M, as a brand, alive," Ghosh told PTI here.

For the Treasure Hunt, individuals just need to walk into a Planet M store, answer questions and win prizes while funny photographs clicked and uploaded by individuals will be adjudged as part of 'Snap-n-Share'.

'SingTone' would involve individuals creating their own calLer tunes and being judged by a panel. 'Karaoke', as the name suggests, would be a singing competition of sorts over four weeks.

Planet M was acquired by Videocon from Bennett & Coleman Company Ltd last year. NEXT Retail of Videocon took over Planet M in November 2007 in a Rs 200-crore deal. The company has been expanding its number of stores since then.

Currently, Planet M has 250 stores across India, of which 50 are flagship stores, 25 are 'super stores' and the remaining neighbourhood stores.

On whether there was a conscious effort to create a differentiation in the brand as compared to the previous owners, Ghosh said, "Planet M was always in the leisure space. We have only broadbased it. We have not changed the name and the logo because it adds a lot of equity to the brand."
