Pune firm launches health drink

Pune-based Green Way Healthcare Pvt Ltd announced on Tuesday the launch of MagnO, a health drink.

Green Way managing director Sachin Chopda told reporters that the product "" developed after extensive research with an investment of Rs 3 crore "" contains aloe vera, angosteen,Goji berry, Noni fruit, green tea and grape seed extract. "MagnO offers the power of these six ingredients, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of the drink," he said.

Chopda said oxidative stress proved to be the main culprit behind the increasing number of diseases such as diabetes, cancer, digestive dysfunction or Alzheimer's.

Chopda said the human body needs about 5,000 units of Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity (ORAC) but 90 per cent of people in the world take in just about 50 per cent of ORAC, leaving a considerable shortfall.

MagnO will work both as an antioxidant and food supplement because of its natural extract content, he claimed.

MagnO is manufactured by Pushpam Healthcare Products, which is the parent company of Green Ways. Pushpam is in the business of third party manufacturing of licenced drugs for overseas companies who sell these drugs under their own brand name.

It has clients in Japan, Italy and Nigeria.

MagnO has been assessed by Brunswick Laboratories, USA, for its ORAC capacity and certified as having ORAC value which is far more than other products in the same space. Chopda said the company commenced the process to patent the drink.

Chopda said Green Ways would use the direct selling route for the product to appropriately educate consumers about its positive effects. The company would appoint about 50,000 distributors for the product. Chopda was confident of achieving a sales turnover of Rs 50 crore in 2007.

"We propose to export MagnO to Sri Lanka and Thailand in 2007 and to the US and other Western countries in the following year," he said.
