BS Reporter Mumbai/ Pune

According to the latest findings of Employment Trends Survey (MEtS) – Wave2 conducted by Ma Foi Randstad, a division of the global Randstad Holding and world's second largest HR services company, Pune has reported the highest salary increase (17.1 per cent) in the Indian organised sector for the period extending between January 2011 and June of 2011 and is expected to retain its position in the current quarter as well at 17.8 per cent.

Among the cities surveyed, the estimated proportion of fresher (workforce with less than 1 year experience) recruitment is reported to be the highest in the Pune region at 41.1 per cent.

“Since last year, employment growth in Pune has been very positive across industry sectors than compared to a couple of years ago. The city has emerged as a favourite destination for new investors and the growth momentum is expected to continue in the months to come,” said E Balaji, managing director and chief executive officer, Ma Foi Randstad.

Hiring in the top management has also been reported to be the highest in this region at 9 per cent. The survey says that the city has created 6,100 jobs in the first half of 2011 and about 3,300 new jobs are expected to be created in the current quarter.

The survey was conducted among 690 companies across 13 industry segments panning 8 Indian cities. The respondents included members of senior management and HR professionals who were questioned on specific areas relating to hiring plans across various time lines, manpower requirements for the current quarter vis-à-vis the last two quarters and their views on how they see the job market to be in the year 2011.

Most of the sectors contributed to the generation of employment base. Chief among those were BFSI, media and entertainment, non-machinery manufacturing, energy and transport, storage and communication.

The top three cities to have reported the highest employment generation in this first half are Delhi and NCR (55,800), Mumbai (53,100) and Chennai (30,800). These three metro cities are together expected to add 77,100 new jobs in the current quarter of 2011.

The prime objective of this employment survey is to understand the employment trends in the organised sector on a quarterly basis.
