PuriCore launches new biocide tech

UK-based PuriCore, a leading global disinfection and sterilisation technology company, launched its Sterilox Technology -- a revolutionary biocide -- in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
"Sterilox has become the biocide choice in leading international supermarkets, hotels, restaurants, hospitals and clinics. It has a great potential in India, where it can help players in the rapidly-growing retail, hospitality and healthcare industries transform their operations, and develop a significant competitive edge," Anthony Ramsay, director of Jodhana Medical and Research Centre, Delhi, told mediapersons today.
The centre is the exclusive licensee to market Sterilox in India.
The application helps supermarkets keep fruits and vegetables longer and fresher, and helps restaurant and hotel operators sanitise their food preparation areas more efficiently and effectively.
In the healthcare segment, Sterilox offers hospitals and clinics superior bacteria control in a wide range of areas including endoscopy, dental applications and wound care, he said.
According to Rajesh Nayar, president (medical equipment division), Jodhana Medical and Research Centre, the centre is negotiating with a couple of companies in Hyderabad, including Keimed Limited, a sister concern of Apollo Hospitals Group, for distribution of Sterilox in south India.
"We are also in talks with several state governments for fogging applications used in prevention of viral outbreaks," he said.
Sterilox is currently used in over 40 hospitals in the UK alone, while more than 1,141 installations have been made in supermarkets and 20-odd systems in the hospitality sector in the US.
PuriCore's initial focus is on hotels and casinos in Las Vegas and it sees a business opportunity of approximately $1 billion for the application, the company CEO, Paul J Donnelly, said.
