Raymond resumes operations at Valsad plant

The company had to temporarily suspend its operations at the textile manufacturing plant following a closure notice from GPCB

Press Trust of India Mumbai/ Ahmedabad
Textile major Raymonds on Tuesday said it has resumed operations at its plant in Valsad district of Gujarat following withdrawal of closure notice by the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB).

The company had to temporarily suspend its operations at the textile manufacturing plant following a closure notice from GPCB in the beginning of March for alleged violation of environmental norms.

In a regulatory filing to the BSE, Raymond said, "The company has started its operations at the aforesaid plant pursuant to the withdrawal of the closure notice by the GPCB."

On status of notice, Gujarat Pollution Control Board Member Secretary Hardik Shah said, "The closure notice I think has been withdrawn".

Earlier, the closure notice was served on the plant after one of its effluent discharge pipelines got ruptured, and it was releasing waste water in open. Also, the power connection to the plant was disconnected.
