Revolving hotel in Vizag by year-end

VDS Ramaraju Chennai/ Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam will soon get a hilltop revolving restaurant. The restaurant, on Kailasa Hill, is being developed by the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (Vuda) and is spread over 1,500 square feet. It can host 80 people.

Upon completion, Vuda would hand over the restaurant to a leading star hotel for running and maintenance.

Vuda has developed the Kailasa hill, located on the beachfront in Visakahaptnam city, as a tourist spot and every year about 15 lakh people visit this hill.

To attract more tourists, the development authority is setting up a circular train with an investment of about Rs 3 crore and a Telugu museum on the lines of the Kerala museum, in collaboration with the American Telugu Association, with an investment of about Rs 5 crore on the hills.

Besides the revolving restaurant, Vuda is planning to build 12 luxury cottages on the hilltop to provide night accommodation.

"We will spend more than Rs 1 crore on the revolving restaurant and cottages. After completion of the construction of initial structures, Vuda will invite big players in the hotel industry through global tenders, who will invest about Rs 3 crore in creating interiors and other facilities," PSN Raja, chairman, Vuda, told Business Standard.

The revolving restaurant will be ready by the end of December and Vuda would give these projects to private bidders on a 30-year lease for maintenance, he added.
