Sanjay Pattnaik named new president of FIMI

FIMI represents the interest of mines and mineral based industries and has over 400 members from across the country

Sanjay Pattnaik, executive director of Tata Sponge Iron Ltd (TSIL), has been elected as the national president of Federation of Indian Mineral Industries (FIMI) at its annual general meeting recently. FIMI is a national body representing the interest of mines and mineral based industries and has over 400 members from across the country.

Before joining as executive director of TSIL, Pattanik had stint of 31 years in different functions and divisions of Tata Steel. His area of operation was raw materials, port operations and logistics solutions, liaison and business facilitation, policy and regulatory affairs relating to mining etc. He joined Tata Steel in 1983 after completing his B.E Degree in Mining Engineering from the Osmania University.

 

Pattanik has served on the boards of Tata Refractories, Nilachal Refractory, Trustee of Paradip Port Trust and as vice-president, Utkal Chamber of Commerce & Industries (UCCI). He served as non-executive director of TSIL from July-2003 until August-2009. He is also chairman of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Odisha State Council.
