Singapore Airlines offers special fares

BS Reporter Chennai/ Hyderabad
Singapore Airlines (SA) on Thursday announced special fares out of Hyderabad to key destinations in Australia. A return economy class ticket per person for a minimum of two people travelling together will now be available at Rs 26,500 to Rs 27,000 depending on the destination. The fare entails a discount of up to 16 per cent on the current return economy fares.

The fare, however, does not include taxes and surcharges and the passenger has to pay, on an average, an additional Rs 10,000 in this regard. The special fare is available up to May 4 and is valid for outbound travel till June 15, 2007. The Australian destinations covered under the offer are Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth.

According to SA general manager- India CW Foo, the offer also includes a free stopover at Singapore while flying in and out of any of the destinations.

Passengers can also avail the airlines boarding pass privileges to get discounts on shopping, dining and entertainment, tourist attractions and transport services. In addition, attractive offers are available in select outlets at Singapore Changi Airport.

Foo told mediapersons that Australia has become a very popular destination among Indians and the offer was in tune with SA's current focus on promoting leisure travel.

Stating that India was one of the top 10 contributing countries to SA's revenues, he said that the airline was looking towards increasing the number of its flights to India.

In addition, its subsidiary regional airline, SilkAir, is planning to operate a flight to Coimbatore towards the end of this year. Currently, SA operates 49 weekly flights to eight destinations in India.

These include two daily flights to Mumbai, daily flights to Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore, four weekly to Kolkata and Hyderabad and three weekly to Ahmedabad and Amritsar.
