Spice Communications’ net loss at Rs 136 cr
Telecom operator Spice Communications reported a net loss of Rs 136.47 crore for the quarter ended 30 June, 2008 as compared to Rs 41.6 lakh in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. During the period, the company, formerly led by BK Modi, posted an increase of 21 per cent in total income to rise from Rs 257 crore in the corresponding quarter last year to Rs 325.26 crore in the reported quarter. For the quarter ended 31 March, 2008, the company reported losses of Rs 36.51 crore.
NDTV Q1 net at Rs 2 crore
New Delhi-based news broadcaster and media company New Delhi Television (NDTV) reported a profit after tax of Rs 2.08 crore for the quarter ended June 30 as against a loss of Rs 2.15 crore a year ago period, riding on an increase in net sales and from the consultancy income towards services provided by NDTV to its subsidiary among others. The revenue during the quarter rose by 56 per cent to Rs 95.5 crore against Rs 61.21 crore, it clocked in the same period last year. NDTV also posted a consolidated profit after tax of Rs 524 crore.
Tata Communications Q1 net drops 24%
Tata Communications, formerly VSNL, posted a 24.15 per cent decline in net profit at Rs 98.34 crore in the first quarter ended June 30, 2008, as compared with a net profit of Rs 129.65 crore during the comparable period of the previous financial year. The Tata group company’s total income rose 3.78 per cent to Rs 921.29 crore during the quarter under review, as against Rs 887.72 crore recorded during the same period a year ago, Tata Communications informed the BSE on Wednesday.
