TKES India on green drive

| ThyssenKrupp Electrical Steel India Pvt Ltd (TKES India) and Germany-based Deutsche Investitions-und Entwicklungsgesellschaft GmbH (DEG) have entered into a public-private partnership agreement to create awareness among consumers about energy conservation. |
| As part of this, a two-day national conference on 'Energy conservation through right usage of core material' was recently organised by TKES India and DEG. The conference held at Nashik saw delegates from 100 companies, engaged in manufacturing of power equipment and electrical appliances, from across the country. |
| "India has a potential to save 15-20 per cent of the total energy consumed by improving energy efficiency through right usage of core material. Considering this, we have taken initiative to organise such programmes on energy conservation," a senior TKES India official said. |
| The companies, which gave presentations on energy conservation included Pune-based Cummins Generator Technologies India Ltd, Bangalore-based Kaytee Switchgear Ltd, Areva T&D India Ltd and International Copper Promotion Council of India. |
| TKES India is a subsidiary of ThyssenKrupp, a German conglomerate having business interests in steel, stainless, technologies, and elevators and services. TKES India has a facility in Nashik, which manufactures cold-rolled electrical steel used extensively for all transformers, motors and other rotating machines. |
| DEG is a public financial institution engaged in private sector development in developing and transition countries as part of German bilateral economic co-operation. DEG in India is engaged in energy conservation promotion activities. Both TKES India and DEG also provide support to the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), a statutory body under the power ministry. |
