Your Uber rides from Mumbai airports are going to be expensive. The US-based Taxi hailing app today decided to levy a surcharge of Rs 110 from its passengers booking a pick-up from the city's domestic and international airports.

The announcement came after Mumbai International and Domestic Airport’s management decided to levy a mandatory Rs 110 surcharge for all commercial vehicles entering the passenger pick-up areas.

Recently, the airport management also allotted designated pick-up areas for commercial vehicles entering the premises to pick-up passengers.

Uber said in a blog post on its website: "We’re adjusting our fares to automatically account for this surcharge on a ride successfully requested at the airports. This works in the same way that the sea-link toll is automatically added to your trip fare. When a toll or surcharge is charged to your account, our driver partner produces proof that he has paid for it, upon which he is reimbursed for it. This means that you do not need to pay cash to your driver, as Uber is intended to be a cashless experience."

An airport surcharge is added to your fare if you’re picked up from 1A and 1B terminals on the domestic airport or from P4 and P6 terminals on the international airport.
