UK safety award for Vedanta suspended

The British Safety Council on Monday announced the suspension of its 2012 International Safety Award recently conferred on mining major Vedanta Aluminium’s Lanjigarh refinery in Odisha. A release from the BSC said investigation was necessary to determine whether the stringent eligibility conditions for making such awards had been complied with by the company.
