UTI AMC for fresh terms on use of UTI brand

UTI Asset Management Company, investment manager to UTI Mutual Fund would negotiate terms and conditions with sister companies for using the UTI brand, a company official said.

Companies like UTI Bank and UTI Securities were allowed to use the UTI brand till January 2008, following which terms and conditions would have to be renewed, U K Sinha, CMD of UTI AMC, said.

Sinha said since UTI AMC was the owner of the UTI brand, a host of companies using the UTI brand would have to sit down for negotiating fresh terms and conditions.

Till January 2008, UTI Bank, UTI Securities, UTI Technology Services, UTI Investment Advisory Services and UTI Infrastructure Services were allowed to use the UTI brand.

Asked whether UTI AMC was toying with the idea of charging a loyalty from companies for using the brand, Sinha said these issues would have to be discussed and agreed upon by both the parties.
