Data story: India logs 7,240 new cases, over 41,000 added in last 7 days

India reported an increase of 3,641 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 32,498. On June 8, it added 7,240 cases to take its total caseload to 43,197,522. And, with 8 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 524,723, or 1.21 per cent of total confirmed infections.

 

With 1,543,748 more Covid-19 vaccine doses being administered on June 8, India’s total count of vaccine shots so far reached 1,945,981,691. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 42,640,301 — or 98.71 per cent of total caseload — with 3,591 new cured cases being reported on June 9.
