API extends RSP plant licence by 3 yrs

US-based environmental and quality standard certifying agency API has extended the Monogram license for the pipes making plant of Rourkela Steel Plant, a unit of Steel Authority of India (SAIL).

“The API Monogram license for both the pipe plants of RSP, namely ERW pipe plant and spiral weld pipe plant, has been extended for three more years. The licence gives the right to use the official API monogram on the pipes,” said a release by the steel plant authorities.

As per the licensing norms adopted by API, a renewal audit for monogram licensing was done in February to evaluate the continuing conformance and effectiveness of the quality management system. After scrutinsing the auditor report, API authorities issued the licence renewal certificate on Wednesday, which is valid up to 26 November 2014 for production of PSL-1 and PSL-2 types of pipes.

 

On Wednesday, a certificate handing over function was organised in which G S Prasad, Chief Executive Officer of the steel plant handed over the certificate to S N Roy, executive director (Works) and to P K Panda, deputy general manager of pipe plants.
