Digvijays Deputy Not To Quit Over Lokayukta Case

BSCAL

Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pyarelal Kanwar and cooperatives minister B R Yadav have no immediate plans to step down following reports of registration of case against them by the Lokayukta in a controversial land deal.

Reports said that the Lokaytukta had directed registration of case against the two ministers and six Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers, following a complaint regarding allotment of more than 50 acres of land at Kadatal in Jabalpur district at throwaway prices to an organisation.

Both the ministers were waiting for Chief Minister Digvijay Singh to return to the state capital today before taking any further step, informed sources said.

Pleading his innocence in the case, minister of cooperatives Bisahu Ram Yadav said that he had left the matter to the Chief Minister.

Deputy Chief Minister Pyarelal Kanwar, who is holding the revenue portfolio, was not available for comments.

The sources pointed out that Yadav was not holding the portfolio of revenue department when the decision to allot the land was taken.
