Ex-gratia for sugar factory victims

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the kin of three persons who were killed on Sunday night when the molasses of Aska Sugar Industries entered into two staff quarters.

This is in addition to the compensation of Rs 2.5 lakh announced by the factory authorities. Around 2,000 tonnes of molasses entered into the staff quarters when the 3,000 tonne capacity tank of the oldest sugar factory in the state developed crack.
