Union minister for rural development Nitin Gadkari will take a review meeting with all state chief ministers of the Land acquisition law.
The meeting is scheduled to happen on June 27 and there will be a review of the steps taken by the state governments with regards to implementation of the rules in the Act.
The meeting assumes importance as the law -- The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement -- came into force in January this year only.

A senior official from the rural development said the meeting has been called to look into the interests of the farmers and whether they have been rightly compensated or not.
The industry has expressed its displeasure over the high compensation that has to be given out while acquiring land. One has to pay two times the market rate in urban areas and four times in the rural areas.
Recently, Gadkari had said that changes may be brought about in the Land Acquisition Act. He had discussed various provisions of the Act with State governments and Prime Minister would take a final call on the matter.
