Govt departments record 33% spending by Sept end

The state government departments have spent about 33.81 per cent of the total provisions (both plan and non-plan) allocated to them till September 2013.
Out of the total provisions of Rs 61,136.16 crore under plan and non-plan expenditure for the current fiscal, the spending in the first six months was only Rs 20,672.89 crore.
The expenditure of the public enterprises department was highest at 68.97 per cent of the provisioned amount. Among other departments, parliamentary affairs has recorded 46.03 per cent spending, public grievances & pension administration (45.44 per cent), excise (41.38 per cent), housing and urban development (43.86 per cent), women and child development (45.6 per cent) and law department (40.69 per cent).

The combined expenditure of these departments stood at 82.20 per cent of the allocation in the last fiscal.
The total plan and non-plan provisions made for 2012-13 was Rs 56,687.56 crore while the spending was Rs 46,598.37 crore in 2012-13.
This was stated by state finance minister, Prasanna Acharya in a written reply to the state assembly.
In a separate question on collection of own tax and non- tax revenues, the finance minister replied that the state government has set a target to collect Rs 17,605 crore from state's own tax and Rs 6,825 crore from non-tax segments.
As on October end, the state government has collected Rs 8390.98 crore as tax revenue and Rs 4,303.77 crore as non-tax revenue.
Acharya said, the state government is keeping a close watch on achieving the revenue targets and conducting reviews at regular intervals.
During mid-term analysis of the financial condition of the state, the revenue collection status was reviewed and the departments were directed to undertake measures to achieve their respective targets.
The state government has presented Rs 9,421.25 crore gross supplementary budget in the state assembly with focus on post cyclone reconstruction and disaster mitigation work and social schemes.
