Halim defers privilege motion till next Assembly session

West Bengal Assembly Speaker Hasim Abdul Halim today once again deferred decision on a privilege motion against three Trinamool Congress legislators till the next session.
The privilege motion sought termination of membership of three Trinamool legislators for allegedly obstructing the Speaker from leaving the House in the previous session.
The Speaker, who was supposed to take a decision today on the issue, said it was further deferred because of a letter from the Leader of Opposition Partha Chatterjee requesting postponment since they were not attending this session.
The Speaker hoped all of them would appear in the House in the next session to explain their conduct and reminded them that it would be their last chance to explain themselves.
Halim also said that since the concerned Trinamool Congress members contended that they had not received copies of the privilege notice, he had directed the Assembly secretariat to despatch them immediately.
