The Hurriyat Conference is ready for unconditional talks with the Centre to peacefully resolve the Kashmir issue, its chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq said yesterday.
The Kashmir issue is more of a political nature than an armed one, Umer said here, adding, let us come across the table and discuss the issue with an open mind.
The Hurriyat leader stressed We will not put any conditions for the talks and expect the same from the Centre.

Accussing the Centre of not having a clear stand on the militancy issue, he said, We have always kept our gates open for talks. He added, We believe talks are the best way to bring peace in the valley.
Expressing his support for the ongoing foreign secretary-level talks between India and Pakistan, Umer said, Healthy relations between India and Pakistan is a key to speedy solution of the Kashmir issue. The Hurriyat chief felt matters can be discussed and a solution arrived at only across the table and it is good to see India and Pakistan again holding talks.
He reiterated his partys stand that the issue of Kashmir can be solved only with active participation of representatives of the state.
