Kolkata's Institute of Modern Management (IMM) is going to set up its new campus at Rajarhat, according to Dipak Rudra, director of IMM.
It will cease to be under the Visva Bharati University banner for its master of business administration (MBA) and other related courses, and will instead go in for All India Counccil of Technical Education (AICTE ) and West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT) affiliation.
"IMM hopes to get AICTE approval soon. Accordingly, fresh students would come in for the academic session 2005-06", said Rudra on the sidelines of the school's convocation ceremony.
There was no intake of new candidates for the academic session beginning in 2004.
Visva Bharati would continue to award degrees and diplomas for some existing courses, informed Rudra.
The new IMM campus would cover three bighas at the new township at Rajarhat. It was expected to be ready before the beginning of the next academic session.
Golden Charity Trust, a trust under a financial services company, will be providing land and finance.
Under the new affiliation, IMM would be offering full time MBA course along with Bachelor in business administration (BBA) and master and bachelor courses in computer application (MCA and BCA).
"The trust is keen to set up an engineering and medical college under the IMM banner in future. IMM would be the nucleus of the new group of educational institutions that would be set up", said Rudra.
The MBA students would number 60 and a similar number would be taken in for other courses at the new campus, said S Maity, deputy director of IMM.
