Institutes taking money from SC students to be penalised

The Scheduled Castes Commission in Punjab has issued strict instructions to penalise government and private educational institutions which are found illegally charging fee from students belonging to scheduled castes.
Rajesh Bagha, chairman of SC Commission, said on Thursday it has come to their notice that some of the educational institutions have been illegally charging fee from SC students, whose annual income is less than Rs 2 lakh per annum.
He said that written instructions have been issued to authorities concerned to trace all such institutions and to initiate punitive action against these erring institutions.
Bagha said it has also been noticed that some of the institutions are not behaving well with the students and employees belonging to the SC community.
He appealed to all the departmental heads of different institutions to ensure healthy and unbiased treatment with the students and employees of the SC community.
