IT survey in Sahara para banking branches

The income tax (IT) department has begun a survey in a few state offices of the Sahara group's para banking operations.

IT department teams are visiting offices of Sahara in Maharashtra, Gujarat and West Bengal to get information on account holders and depostiors, sources said.

Sahara operates para banking through 1,700 branches across the country, and the survey was conducted in over 74 branches in a sample manner, sources added.

Sahara officials could not be contacted for comments.
