In a letter to President Pratibha Patil today, he said the nuclear deal is necessary for India's economic prosperity and the whole planet's environmental purity.
"Opposition to the deal is prompted by wholly unworthy motives," he said in the letter. Without naming any party or leaders, Jethmalani said some of the political parties and individual politicians are not guided by national interest but by "corrupt money and insane lure of office."
"You would recall that we have disqualified members for accepting a few rupees as price for asking questions in Parliament. What is happening is a thousand times more dirty," he said.
