Katta files bail plea in land scam case

Press Trust Of India Chennai/ Bangalore

Former Karnataka Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu and two others, accused in the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) land scam, filed their bail petitions in the High Court here on Tuesday.

Naidu, his son Jagadish, a city Corporator, and ITASKA Software firm MD Srinivas filed applications praying for bail, a day after they were remanded in judicial custody by a lower court.

The special Lokayukta Court had rejected their bail pleas in connection with the KIADB land scam and irregularities in securing compensation for those whose lands were acquired. The court remanded them in judicial custody till August 22, after which police took them into custody.

The three are lodged in Parappanaagrahara jail. Naidu is the first former minister in the state to undergo judicial custody over allegations of corruption.
