Mughal Road awaits approval

Press Trust Of India Jammu
The 84-km long Mughal Road Project launched with much fanfare has been held up for want of clearance from The National Wild Life Board (NWLB), state Minister for Roads and Buildings G S Charak said.

"The work on the project has been held up for want of clearance from NWLB because a part of the alignment of the road passes through the Heerpur Wildlife Sanctuary in the Pir Panchal ranges," he said. The Rs 215-crore project is stuck up due to want of sanction for past two months, he added.

The Mughal Road was launched as an alternate all-weather highway by the former Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed and the then union minister and now Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in October last year.
