Noisy Scenes In Rajasthan House Over Munis Suicide

Uproarious scenes were witnessed in the Rajasthan assembly yesterday over the suicide by a Jain muni, with angry opposition members charging the state government of being responsible for the death.
Several Congress members, including Ram Swaroop Meena and Parsadi Lal, demanded a discussion on the incident soon after the house assembled in the morning. Angry opposition members alleged that the state administrations high-handedness and humiliating behaviour had led to the suicide of muni Lokendra Vikay.
Amid the din, Ram Narayan Verma (Congress) sought to move a censure motion against the government while Bhim Raj Bhati, (Independent) insisted that the body of the muni should not be cremated till the erring officers were suspended. Meena along with another Congress member rushed to the well and staged a sit-in.

The uproar subsided after the deputy chief minister, Hari Shankar Bhabhra, agreed to a suggestion by the opposition leader, Paras Ram Maderna, and said that the home minister would make an official statement over the incident immediately after the question hour and the house would debate the issue if the members wanted.
The Jain muni committed suicide yesterday by taking poison in the police station where he was lodged for interrogation following an allegation of rape against him.
