Praising Jinnah is not fair: Ajit Singh

Rastriya Lok Dal chief Ajit Singh today said he did not agree with the views expressed by expelled BJP leader Jaswant Singh in his book as denying Mohammad Ali Jinnah's role in partition was not "fair".
"Though I have not read the book, I have gone through its excerpts, which came in newspapers. I don't agree with Jaswant Singh's views that there was no role of Jinnah in partition of the country in 1947," Singh told reporters here.
He said it was not "fair" to say that Jinnah had no role in the partition as it was only he (Jinnah) who demanded partition on the basis of religion.
In his book "Jinnah:India-Partition-independence", Jaswant Singh said Jinnah was "demonised" by India even though it was Jawaharlal Nehru whose belief in a centralised system had led to the partition.
