Proagro felicitates farmers

In a bid to encourage cotton growers to refrain from employing children in cotton seed production, Proagro felicitated cotton farmers at a Farmer's Felicitation programme held at Gadwal on Sunday. Proagro is part of Bayer CropScience Group.

Under the Proagro's 'Harvest of Happiness' project, farmers are being encouraged to improve their productivity and profitability without employing child labour.

Six women growers from Velugu, a project of Andhra government, producing cotton seed for Proagro, were also felicitated on the occasion for their cooperation in eliminating child labour.

'Harvest of Happiness' project was implemented in the villages, which had cotton seed production fields under contract with Proagro in 2005, informed a press release.
