Pune's kids to have five star schooling

Our Regional Bureau Pune
Kangaroo Kids Education Ltd (KKEL), pioneers of innovative education for children, have announced the launch of Pune's first five star school, Billabong High.

The school spread across over one lakh sqare feet offers air-conditioned classrooms with a pre-primary library, doll house, paddle pool, sand pit, sickbay, swimming pool, lawn tennis court, basketball / volleyball courts, computer labs, science labs and counselling cells.

Children who are musically inclined can indulge themselves in Indian and Western music classes, Jazz Ballet, and Drama. The school also has a yoga centre. The school follows the ICSE curriculum and the IGCSE boards.

Playschool till Senior KG will be offered by the Kangaroo Kids chain and Billabong High will carry on the same methodologies of teaching from Grade 1 to Grade V. In contrast to the usual exam centred system, the school follows a model with no examinations up-to class IV and no homework till class VII.

Parents can heave a sigh of relief, as the learning culture adopted in the school leaves no room for tuitions. Billabong High school has partnered with Billanook College, Melbourne, Australia, for sharing educational resources and professional expertise for the benefit of students and staff members.

Lina Ashar, managing director, Kangaroo Kids Education said, "We felt that besides the existing infrastructure, Pune could do with a system which stands out in contrast to the traditional methods of learning. We are committed to delivering stress free and colourful learning methodologies and we feel Pune is ready to accept the change."

"Most of the content taught in schools following the traditional approaches is known to be redundant and inapplicable. In contrast, KKEL's curriculum is constantly evolving and aims to provide a purpose for learning.

Billabong High will maintain a mini ecosystem, where learning is stimulating and inspirational. Kangaroo Kids' first Billabong High at Goregaon Mumbai has grown to over 2,000 students and has staff strength of over 300.

Billabong High school stands apart owing to its high student to teacher ratio of 12 is to 1, focus on audio-visual and kinaesthetic teaching methodology, constant parent feedback and involvement," she added.
