Rs 612 cr for flood affected farmers

The government of Maharashtra will settle the claims worth Rs 612 crore of all farmers who have lost their crops and property during the recent floods in the state before the Diwali festival.
 
Speaking to reporters, chairman of the cabinet sub committee on relief and rehabilitation, Patangrao Kadam said, "The crops in 21 districts and 15,347 villages were damaged in the floods and the affected farmers will be given compensation of Rs 473 crore".
 
"Besides this, many villagers lost their houses and for repairs and reconstruction, the state will provide relief worth Rs 153 crore."
 
Around 544 deaths were reported in the state and the Rs 612-crore package doesn't include the ex gratia amount given by the state government to relatives of the victims.
 
This amount is around Rs 3 crore.
