Rs 80 crore horticulture plan for HP

Press Trust Of India New Delhi/ Shimla
A Rs 80-crore horticulture technology mission is underway in the state to diversify the sector," said Chief Minister V B Singh, addressing a meeting at Mandal in Jubbal Kotkhai district.

He further added that the horticulture sector had been contributing significantly towards the GDP of the state, almost to the tune of Rs 1,500 crore.

On the issue of implementation of land reforms in the state, he said that there was hardly any family which was landless in Himachal Pradesh. The state, he claimed, had the distinction of having carried out the provisions of land reforms.

"The state had no big land holdings and the same had been distributed equally among the landless in the state," he said.

Singh said that some political parties had objected to the implementation of land reforms for their own vested interests.
