Seminar on ceramics

A three-day international seminar on ceramics-CERTEC 2007 will be held at Visakhapatnam from January 8.

The main objective for conducting the international seminar is to bring global participation from industry, government departments, academic institutions and R&D organisations to discuss broadly on research and development in the field, emerging trends, challenges, opportunities related to ceramics, Y Sivasagar Rao, chairman and managing director, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, and chairman of the National Organising Committee, CERATEC-2007, told mediapersons here.

"We are expecting 400 delegates, including 20 foreign delegates from Italy, Germany and China," he said.

On this occasion, L Venugopal Reddy, vice-chancellor, Andhra University, and chairman, National Advisory Committee, CERATEC-2007, announced that Andhra University was planning to introduce a ceramic course in B-Tech from the next academic year.

The seminar is being organised jointly by Indian Ceramic Society, All India Pottery Manufactures' Association and Indian Institute of Ceramics. Visakhapatnam Steel Plant is the main sponsor.
