Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa on Tuesday said the Union government had given only Rs 2,829.50 crore for the state for various development activities for 2011-12. The chief minister noted that the total outlay for the year is Rs 23,535 crore.
In her reply at the state Assembly on Tuesday, the chief minister said the state government has requested Rs 2.52 lakh crore assistance from the Centre government to support various projects including fishermen welfare, connecting state rivers, solar energy projects, laptop distribution and others.
"Till now, the Centre did respond and not given any support," said the chief minister. She added that for 2011-12, budget outlay for development works in the state was Rs 23,535 crore, of which Rs 2,829.50 crore was given by the Centre government.
This includes, normal central assistance of Rs 588.4 crore, projects which are taken with foreign assistance is Rs 43.14 crore, Rs 2,198.31 crore for other development projects. So the state government was spending Rs 20,705.50 crore from its internal resource, she said.
