UP seeks extension of metro rail services in NCR

The state govt is of the view that prompt approvals of these projects would help UP in initiating follow-up action

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has urged the Centre to expedite the extension of the metro rail service in the National Capital Region (NCR) area of Uttar Pradesh.

In his letter to the urban development minister, Kamal Nath, Yadav has requested for prompt approvals of extending the rail service from Delhi's Dilshad Garden to the new bus stand in Ghaziabad; from Kalindi Kunj to Botanical Garden and to Noida and Greater Noida.

Earlier, the state government had sent a proposal in this regard to the Centre, promising to bear its share of expenses.

The state government is of the view that prompt approvals of these projects would help UP in initiating follow-up action.
 

Yadav maintained that the project would go a long way in smoothening and decongesting public transport.

In view of all round and comprehensive development of UP, the extension of the metro rail services in NCR are imperative, he added.

In his letter, the CM further said owing to the efforts of the state government, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had prepared three projects and informed the union urban development minister that UP would bear its share of Dilshad Garden to new bus stand metro rail stretch.

The union urban development department secretary had been apprised of the state government's in principle approval to these projects, the letter mentioned.
