Workers to march from Kanpur to Lucknow

Vijay Chawla New Delhi/ Kanpur
Workers will march from Kanpur to Lucknow to ensure that the UP government changes its "anti-worker" policies.

This unprecedented decision has been taken because of the continuous failure of the state government to get the closed factories reopened, revive medical facilities for the workers of the factories under lockout, and ensure minimum wages.

"We have nothing to lose. Any further wait will prove to be suicidal for workers," RK Tewary, a labour leader, told Business Standard. "The dates have not been decided," he added.

JK Cotton is closed under a lockout since May 15, 1989. LML ceased production in January last year, and it declared a lockout.
