Illiquid Gilts Spiral Up Anew, Call Trimmed

Call rates edged lower to close in the 5.50-5.75 per cent band as against the previous close of 5.75-5.85 per cent amid comfortable liquidity in the interbank call money market. Prices of illiquid government securities moved by up almost one rupee and that of liquid government securities were up by around 50-70 paise.
Call rates opened at 6.00-6.10 per cent. It touched a high of 6.10 per cent and a low of 5.50 per cent.
