United India Insurance Company has maintained its number one position in business in Kerala, collecting a premium income of Rs 536.95 crore for the financial year 2013-14. National Insurance Company came second with a premium income of Rs.530 crore.
At the all-India level, New India Assurance Company was first crossing the Rs 14,300-crore mark in premium income. National Insurance collected over Rs 10,000 crore premium.
P P Mohanan,Kerala State General Secretary of General Insurance Officers All India Association, said the four public sector general insurance companies collected a total premium income of Rs 1,959 crore from Kerala. In 2012-13, this stood at Rs 1,894 crore.
