Citing rapid changes in the business education market, the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) and Duke Corporate Education (Duke CE) announced closure of their institutional partnership.

According to an official statement by IIM-A, going forward, the institutes will re-frame the nature of their partnership to work on a project-by-project basis.

"For the past seven years, IIM-A and Duke CE have worked together under an institutional partnership forged on our shared desire to develop leaders for the future. We have also recognized that the business context within which we operate has gone through a number of significant shifts requiring every educational institution to revisit their own strategy and reexamine the role of partnerships in making a difference in the world," IIM-A stated.

The IIM-A and Duke CE institutional partnership had begun in November 2006.

However, IIM-A stated that the business education market today seeks rapid aggregation of a varied set of capabilities to address emergent opportunities and challenges.

"Given this marketplace reality, IIMA and Duke CE have agreed to re-frame the nature of our partnership from one that is institutionally bound to one that will be market led. In so doing, we will bring our institutional arrangement to a close effective March 31, 2014.  Going forward, we will seek to identify opportunities to bring our complementary capabilities together to deliver differentiated value on a project-by-project basis," IIM-A further stated, while adding that both the institutes hope to open a new chapter that allows them both to continue to learn together.
