PwC to design IFRS module for IIM-C

The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM-C) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) will sign an agreement today to jointly develop training programmes for the accounting standard International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Kaushik Dutta, partner and IFRS leader, PwC India, said: “PwC will design the IFRS curriculum for IIM-C. We will start with a certification course and plan to make it available on satellite. We are not charging for the programme because it is in our interest to have enough IFRS-trained manpower and corporations by 2011.”

Migration from the Indian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles to IFRS is emerging as a big business opportunity for consultants.

 

PwC’s investment in IFRS-related initiatives is expected to exceed $1 million.
