First, customers would demand companies to deliver superior digital services that align with their changing behaviour more than ever. Secondly, telecom big data will be used more in 2016 for social good. Thirdly, networks as software will take off as technologies like network function virtualisation and software-defined networking will enable new ways of designing and operating networks. Fourthly, 2016 has been marked as a phase where machines will understand more digital content as they get more deeply integrated into digital services. Fifthly, future Internet of Things (IoT) devices need low cost and low power-consuming networks. Low-Power Wide Area Networks will enable a smart society with many new IoT services and platforms.
