Bharti Airtel abuzz on DTH services launch news

Bharti Airtel surged 2.66 per cent to close at Rs 749.05 on Tuesday on reports that the company will be launching direct-to-home (DTH) television services on October 9. Reports suggest that the company will offer over 175 channels through the Mpeg 4 standard, which translates into better picture and audio clarity.
Bharti Airtel plans to introduce different packages starting from Rs 2,499 and Rs 1,499 for the Northern and Southern markets respectively. The stock hit an intraday high of Rs 766.9 and a low of Rs 730. A total of 1,160,814 shares, with delivery volumes of 48 per cent changed hands.
