Cardamom turns weak at futures trade on subdued demand

Cardamom futures prices fell by Rs 17.10, or 1.25 per cent, to Rs 1,355 per kg today, as speculators reduced their positions, at existing higher levels in local markets.
Increased arrival from producing regions also put pressure on the cardamom prices at futures market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, cardamom for September fell by Rs 17.10, or 1.25 per cent, to Rs 1,355 per kg, with an open interest of 1,733 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in October declined by Rs 12.70, or 1.03 per cent, to Rs 1,223.20 per kg, with an open interest of 1,432 lots.
Marketmen said sluggish demand at prevailing higher levels and increased arrivals in physical markets mainly attributed to the losses in cardamom at futures market here.
