Domestic crude oil basket falls to $57.79

India's crude oil import basket fell further to $57.79 (Rs 2,555) per barrel on Friday, down 33 cents from Thursday, the petroleum and natural gas ministry said today.

Prices for Monday were unavailable due to public holiday for Id. The Indian crude basket comprises Oman-Dubai sour grade crude and Brent dated sweet crude in 58:42 ratio.

Friday, Brent crude closed at $58.93 per barrel, down 66 cents from Thursday. The Dubai benchmark was down 13 cents to $56.63 per barrel and Oman was down by 10 cents at $57.42.

Crude oil for February delivery on the New York Mercantile Exchange Friday closed at $61.09 per barrel, up 56 cents from Thursday.
