Industry sees 21% rise in pulses output

The country's total pulses output in the crop year that commenced July is projected at 12.8 million tonne compared with 10.6 million tonne in 2005-06 (Jul-Jun), according to estimates arrived at by the pulses industry.
 
The industry pegs chana output during the year at 5.7 million tonne, up 1.4 million tonne from the last year and urad output at 1.1 million tonne compared with 845,000 tonne a year ago. The industry arrived at the forecast after deliberations at a pulses conference Sunday.
 
The pulses output estimates for the crop year ended June were lowered to 10.6 million tonne compared with the earlier estimate of 12.7 million tonne.
 
Chana output for 2005-06 was at 4.3 million tonne compared with an earlier estimate of 5.7 million tonne, while urad estimate for the last crop year was revised downwards to to 845,000 tonne from 1.08 million tonne expected earlier.
