Lead down 0.4% on sluggish demand

Metal for delivery in far-month January last year declined by 0.27%

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Lead prices edged lower by 0.42% to Rs 128.90 per kg in futures trade today, after speculators reduced their exposures amid sluggish demand from battery-makers in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity exchange, lead for delivery in December shed 45 paise, or 0.42% to Rs 128.90 per kg in business turnover of 209 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in far-month January last year declined by 35 paise, or 0.27% to Rs 130 per kg in a turnover of one lot.

Market analysts sluggish demand from battery-makers in the spot markets mainly put pressure on lead futures prices here but metal's gain at the London Metal Exchange, limited the fall.
